How To Install Accordion Doors?

Accordion doors or folding doors as they are more commonly known, are the best room savers in the world of doors – the standard closet, for example, is not very large but is required to accommodate most of our clothes, shoes, memorabilia, books and whatnot. It can be very difficult to get a full overview of what the closet contains when we only have one side open at once – which is the case in having sliding doors cover our closet opening. Naturally, accordion doors may also be used instead of a common sliding door elsewhere in the apartment or a large room which needs to be divided into smaller ones.

Accordion doors consist of panels – narrow or wide depending on your taste, which fold as an accordion and can be made of various different materials – wood, plastic, glass etc. Installing these doors is also easy. Simply follow these common steps and the instructions given when you purchase the doors:

-         measure your door opening – across the top and at the sides;

-         make sure you have relevant hardware necessary for installing accordion doors when purchasing the doors – tracks etc;

-         install the top track and place the bottom track exactly under the top track on the floor or closet (in case the bottom track is used, because multifolded accordion doors usually hang from rollers that run along the top track and very often the bottom track is not used at all;);

-         place the panels in the track(s) according to the instructions that come with the doors.
